The FAA 107.39 waiver was approved for the popular commercial drone, the DJI M300 RTK with the AVSS PRS-M300.
With this waiver, Aerospect Inc. will be able to complete key missions in New York City, New York. The waiver application and supporting paperwork were submitted by Rupprecht Law. This 107.39 waiver enabled flight over people and is one of the first approvals for the DJI M300 RTK by the FAA. This approval is contingent on the use of proper risk mitigation planning and having the DJI M300 RTK equipped with the AVSS PRS-M300 drone parachute.
AeroSpect is at the forefront of transforming drone technology implementation in New York City. Just last year, our sister company Xizmo Media successfully challenged NYC’s drone ban, paving the way for a new permitting process that revolutionized the entire drone service industry in the city.
This year, AeroSpect continues to lead with an innovative approach to using drone technology. Over the years, we have played a crucial role in ensuring that building facades across the city meet safety standards, contributing to a safer urban environment. With our latest advancements, including the AVSS parachute system and newly acquired waiver through Rupprecht Law, we can now deploy drones that capture data with unprecedented accuracy, efficiency and speed. These advancements enable our clients to make well-informed decisions swiftly.
We are excited to see how this technology and waiver will redefine building facade inspections ensuring a safer and better-looking city for all. AeroSpect remains committed to shaping the future of drone technology and urban safety in New York City.
“The FAA has been very careful to allow over people operations over the years. Commercial drone pilots need to demonstrate that their operations are safe through data. This is where most industry members have difficulty in obtaining approval because the aircraft and/or parachute system they chose did not have sufficient data on its performance. AVSS provided key data on their parachute system demonstrating that it had a certain amount of kinetic energy. This data was key to proving to the FAA the operation is safe. My next focus is to start applying for more of these waivers and also for over people and beyond line of sight waivers for the DJI Dock 2 and DJI Matrice 3D”. (Jonathon Rupprecht of Rupprecht Law)
Josh Ogden, CEO of AVSS, stated, “this waiver is a testament to the FAA’s efforts in advancing the safe adoption of commercial drones in the National Airspace. Historically, New York City has been a tough market to receive approval to fly commercial drones. With the drone permitting system being launched by the city last July and this recent FAA approval, we believe there has never been a better time for commercial drone pilots to offer their services and for commercial businesses to update their plans to include flights in New York City”.
